Woodpecker Mine 08

In February of 2008 a few of us decided to go the Florence Junction area and pick a trail to run. We decided on Woodpecker Mine. Vance and Jessica Reed are in the white dodge and my sister Sandra and I are in the Liberty. This is Vance stuck between a rock and a...well you know! Hahaha! Poor guy, I felt for him. I would have never imagined anybody getting stuck on this part of the trail. His front passenger side tire fell into a hole that was deeper than the height of his tire and at the same time his rear diff got into the position you see in the picture. He couldn't move an inch in either direction. It just wasn't his day. Nothing a hi-lift jack, some good size rocks and a tow strap couldn't handle.Majestic SaguarosI think I need to make a skid plate for the tranny before I crush it!

Sunflower Mine

In January 08 a bunch of us decided to try out the Sunflower Mine trail because Jesse went on a scout outing there and couldn't stop tallking about it. I'm glad we went because it instantly became one of my favorites!Jesse, Amanda and Carsyn with Tom's CJ-5Vance, Dalin, Billy, Hannah and AvreeHere's a few pics of the old mine.
These are some of the reasons that I love Arizona.

Ajax Mine 07

On New Year's Eve of 2007 Vance, Dalin and I decided we wanted to hit a trail so we decided on Ajax Mine since I had done it before in my TJ. Well somehow we got off track and ended up on some goat trail. It didn't look to familiar so I went ahead to scout it out and ended up at a working mine. I waited a few minutes and to see if Vance and Dalin would show up. They didn't so I went back to see if there were any problems and found that Dalin had a flat on his Suburban. Once the tire was fixed we backtracked to the road and found the start of Ajax. Dalin decided to leave his Burb on the road since his spare wasn't up to par so it was just my Liberty and Vances Ram. There weren't very many pics cuz we burnt alot of daylight earlier and wanted to get as
much wheelin in as possible before it got dark.

More on the Butcher Jones trip

Here's some more pics from the Butcher Jones trip in the last entry. Sam and his first broken u-joint. It was a pretty cool experience cuz I didn't do any of the work hahaha. I just passed on my words of wisdom. We were lucky to not have to tow him into town cause there was a burnt Cherokee that still had u-joints on it. The only problem was that the bearings wouldn't stay in the cups. So we tried some doughnut glaze, from the box that you can see in the picture, but that didn't work so I went to my first aid kit and found some burn cream that worked excellent. These are the types of situations that we learn to better prepare for the next.

First Mods

This was my first trip out with the 2 1/2" lift, rocker gaurds, and 245/75r16 BFG all terrains at Butcher Jones. That's what we like to call our proving grounds. It's not to far from town and it's right next to Saguaro Lake, just in case you need to take a dip to cool off in the summertime. Thats Sam Reed in the Cherokee and his brother Vance in the Dodge pick-up. I'll post some more on them in the future on a different page.

We wern't able to get much wheelin in that evening because, not long after this shot, Sam busted a u-joint. Luckily there was a burnt cherokee that we could salvage one off of. More details and pics on that later.

This is my 02 Liberty

Here's some pictures of my Liberty before any modifications.
They're not the greatest pics, but you get the idea, you've probably seen enough of them in the parking lot's of grocery stores.

Hope you enjoy the slow build-up.
